About UNICEF:

The United Nations Children’s Fund is an important agency of the United Nations. It was found on the 11th of December, 1946. Although, the title of the organization was shunted from the previous name in the year 1953, it is still acknowledged by its old title. The headquarters of the United Nations Children’s Fund is located in New York City. With regards to the developing nations, UNICEF provides vital help in development and humanitarian causes. UNICEF is an agency which is mainly financed by volunteers. It heavily depends upon the donations from individual donors and from government agencies. The programs of UNICEF mainly stress on the development of services at the community basis, in order to boost the well-being and wellness of kids. UNICEF bagged the Nobel Peace Price Award in the Year 1965. In the year 2006, UNICEF was bestowed with the Prince of Asturias Award.

UNICEF Responsibilities:

The main responsibility of UNICEF lies in protecting children. The child protection schemes of UNICEF mainly help in the overall education and the development of suffering children, who are victims of drug trafficking and sexual exploitation. UNICEF also directs children who are unambiguously defenseless against such abuses. Some of them include living sans care of parents and living in regions of conflict. Children from the poorer regions of Africa don’t get proper access to education. In fact, Africa has the highest rate of school droop-outs in the world. These children are denied the basic right of an individual towards education. By using the donations that UNICEF receives from various organizations, UNICEF targets to provide education to the disadvantaged children in developing and poor countries.
